The restaurant, located just a few meters away from the Sagrada Familia, was a former leather crafters shop from where we only preserve a mannequin for old times sake. It is a very cozy space decorated with wood and tiled floors. At the entrance, you are received by a large marble bar that invites you to taste more than 20 varieties of canned herring, tuna and mackerel … that are handmade respecting tradition, since this is indeed the best way to process the fish without breaking it and preserving its flavor. The recipes and spices just get more interesting can by can.
– Atlantic Mackerel fillets in curry and almonds.
– Atlantic Mackerel Morsel with Melegueta pepper (Grains of Paradise) poppy seeds, onion, celery and balsamic condiment.
– Herrings a la Luzienne with onion, red pepper, Espelette pepper and Bayonne ham.
– Tuna Morsel a la Maria Galante with coconut, pepper, lemon and spices.
There are also plenty of spreads and mousses served on bread; salmon, sardines or lobster. Although the true star of this spot is the bar, you can also find at the back a space with few tables, where we also display the entire collection of cans for those who wish to buy them. Because in addition to taste, La Belle Iloise cans have a colorful vintage touch to them; thus inviting to buy a few to take home or to give to a friend.
